The Maraka Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to Southern India and other rural villages of the Sri Sathya Sai District that are in need of financial, educational and medical support. The main objectives of this Foundation is to bolster education in rural schools and to also supplement medical services
Our Story
Hi, our names are Rohith and Rishitha Maraka, and we are siblings who founded the Maraka Foundation with a shared vision for health equity. Growing up and frequently visiting our family’s village in India, we saw firsthand the challenges faced by friends and family faced when it came to accessing basic healthcare and mental health support. Observing the struggles of individuals who couldn’t afford necessities left a lasting impact on us.
We founded the Maraka Foundation to bridge gaps in health services and provide support to those who need it most. Our goal is to raise awareness and ensure more individuals, especially children and youth, have access to the mental and physical health resources they deserve. Through our foundation, we are committed to building a healthier, more equitable world, one step at a time.
The Problem
Access to quality healthcare is a basic necessity that remains out of reach for many communities, particularly in rural and underserved locations. In these areas, families often face significant barriers to healthcare, including financial limitations, limited infrastructure, and a lack of resources. These challenges can prevent individuals from receiving necessary medical and mental health support, affecting their overall well-being.
Health disparities are further exacerbated by factors such as poverty, lack of education, and social stigma, especially in areas with limited public health awareness. Without adequate support, communities struggle with preventable health issues, chronic diseases, and mental health crises. Children and adolescents are particularly vulnerable, as growing up without access to healthcare can limit their development and future opportunities.
For many, including those in rural India, these challenges are a daily reality. It’s noticeable how the lack of accessible healthcare impacts lives, creating cycles of hardship that are difficult to break. The Maraka Foundation was created to address these disparities and bring essential health resources to communities that need them most, with a focus on mental health support, preventative care, and health education.
Our Solution
Our solution began with a simple idea: to address the critical gaps in healthcare access, particularly in underserved communities. Inspired by the challenges we witnessed among friends and family in our village in India, we realized the profound need for accessible, community-based health resources.
Through partnerships with local healthcare providers, mental health specialists, and community leaders, we aim to bring comprehensive health platforms to those in need. Our initiatives include organizing health camps, providing preventative care education, and offering mental health workshops that empower individuals to prioritize their wellness.
We believe that sustainable change requires knowledge. By incorporating health education into our programs, we aim to equip diverse communities with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their health. Whether through direct services or awareness seminars, the Maraka Foundation is dedicated to building resilient communities with access to healthcare resources they deserve.
